BIOGRAPHY – Dr. GEORGIOS GKOUDELIS (GOUDELIS)

George D. Goudelis, was born in Köln, Germany. He completed his education in Thessaloniki, Greece and graduated from the Medical school of Aristotle University and physical therapy school, Thessaloniki, Greece.

Dr. Goudelis completed his Orthopaedic residency at University of Athens, Orthopedic and Trauma KAT Hospital, under the director, Professor PN. Soucacos. During his five year residency he received special training in hip and knee arthroplasties, fractures and trauma surgery, knee arthroscopy, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine surgery, microsurgery and at the Children's General Hospital Penteli Athens training in Pediatric Orthopaedics.

Following his residency, Dr. Goudelis  received fellowship training, with a scholarship, at the  Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, “Center of Knee, Foot, Ankle and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgery"  in the world famous Clinic ATOS , HEIDELBERG GERMANY”, an approved training Center  of ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine). 

While at ATOS, under the supervision of Orthopaedic professors, Dr. Hans Paessler and Hayo Thermann, Dr. Gkoudelis received intensive training in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive knee surgery and sports medicine; Knee arthroplasty MIS-unicondylar Knee arthroplasty, meniscal and chondrocyte transplantation, and regenerative medicine of the joints.

At the end of his scholarship year he remained in the clinic ATOS at the shoulder and elbow surgery Clinic under the directorship of Professor P. Habermayer and took part specialized surgeries. (Arthroscopies and arthroplasties).

Upon his return to Greece, in 2007, he was awarded his doctorate for the title of PhD from the University of Athens.

In 2020, after intensive training at the ZIMMER BIOMET INSTITUTE in Germany, in robotic knee surgery, he received international certification and is considered one of the few officially recognized orthopedic specialists trained in ROSA robotic arthroplasty in Europe. In 2022 Dr. Georgios Gkoudelis is founder member of European Hip Preservation Associates EHPA - ESSKA.

Throughout his career, Dr. Goudelis has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences and seminars, has taken part in organizing educational lessons of the University of Athens, has published articles in  both National and International  peer reviewed journals, as well as  several chapters in Greek Orthopaedic medical textbooks.

Dr. Goudelis continues to be associated with the ATOS CLINIC in Heidelberg for continuing his training in evolving developments in Orthopaedic surgery and he is a current member of European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA).

For the last 15 years he has been intensively engaged in reconstructive and Patient Specific knee arthroplasties and hip arthroplasties and has performed most of the personalized PSI knee arthroplasty surgeries in Greece, as well as the most ALMIS minimally invasive hip arthroplasties surgery in Northern Greece with great success and international recognition.

Today, the Orthopedic Surgeon George Goudelis lives in Thessaloniki and is the founder and scientific director of the ArthroHeal Clinic Orthopedic Medical Center - Special center for Robotic and Personalized Orthopedic Surgery and Biological Applications - in Kalamaria.
